The Colorado Buffaloes may be without safety Shilo Sanders for the entirety of their game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday due to an already significant deficit.
The head coach Deion Sanders’ son, the seasoned defensive back, started the game for the Buffs and made two tackles before leaving the field in the middle of the first quarter. After that, he was observed going into the locker room to tend to an unidentified wound.
Having refuted reports that he had shoulder surgery in the off-season, Shilo spent the most of training camp donning a yellow non-contact practice jersey.
Sanders said that during Colorado’s season-opening game against North Dakota State, he played through an illness.
Jake Schwanitz of DNVR Buffs reports that Sanders won’t play in Colorado’s Week 2 matchup with Nebraska. But according to NBC’s broadcast, he’s “probable” to come back.
As of this writing, Colorado is behind 14-0 in the second quarter.
UPDATE: Sanders might have had a broken forearm, according to Coach Prime’s halftime interview with NBC.
