Once again, the Chicago Bulls’ season ended in disappointment.
Since Derrick Rose’s career-altering injury, they have been mired in mediocrity, either finishing as a barely playoff team or missing the playoffs entirely.
Sadly for the fans, it doesn’t appear like things will change anytime soon because the front office not only won’t rebuild, but they also won’t pay the luxury tax in order to get some real stars.
The following season, that will once more be the case.
Bulls insider K.C. Johnson reported that the organization has extended an offer to DeMar DeRozan for a two-year contract for $40 million a year.
Although DeRozan has been this team’s one shining light for many years, he is already 34 years old and has little postseason experience.
Zach LaVine, who has a history of injuries and is incredibly overpaid, is the Bulls’ only option, while Lonzo Ball hasn’t worn a uniform in two years.
Their only real trade chip appears to be Alex Caruso, as Nikola Vucevic is not a very good defender and has little trade value.
Despite the fact that it is absurd to keep doing the same actions and expect different outcomes, it appears that the Bulls front management has missed the memo.
This team, which was formerly the norm, has one of the biggest sports markets in the league.
