Prior to the transfer deadline, it is thought that the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both interested in the same player.
So far in transfer window, the Chiefs have signed seven players, while the opposition Pirates have signed five.
As of right now, the Chiefs have enlisted Bongani Sam from the bitter rival Orlando Pirates. They added Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari to further bolster their defense. The goalie signed with TS Galaxy, while the defense joined from Cape Town Spurs. It continued with Bradley Cross, Njabulo Blom, Inacio Miguel, and Gaston Sirino.
However, Pirates had acquired Selaela Rasebotja on a free transfer from SuperSport United and Thalente Mbatha on a permanent contract. In offensive areas, they have also added the likes of Gilberto. The Angolan from Petro de Luanda cost R10 million. The team has also added Thuso Moleleki to its roster, so the blonde winger won’t be the only wide player they sign. Their fifth addition was former Stellenbosch FC captain Deano van Rooyen.
Now, it appears as though Chiefs and Pirates are prepared to battle it out for the transfer of Oswin Appollis, an attacker for Bafana Bafana. Soccer-Laduma reports that the Buccaneers may be making a big “smash and grab” move!
It’s anyone’s game right now, and since each of them has advantages of their own, one of them could end up with the player (Appollis). For the Pirates, trading a player for another with more money on it is important, but for the Chiefs, it’s all about the money. That’s the current state of affairs,” the person stated.
It was once believed that by trading Lesedi Kapinga for cash, Pirates would come out ahead. It’s unclear if the Sea Robbers still have the upper hand now that the playmaker has left. They are thought to be trying to ship off Katlego Otladisa, who they still hold. This is a possibility that might appeal to Polokwane. The Chiefs are attempting to make a straight deal, but things don’t seem good.
