Vincent Kompany is hopeful that “common sense wins out” and that Nottingham Forest’s appeal decision about their point punishment is made as soon as possible.
Burnley’s opponents in the relegation zone are presently awaiting word from an impartial panel following their appeal of the four-point deduction they received in March for violating Premier League financial regulations.
With Forest now sitting in 17th place, one point above Luton Town and two points ahead of Burnley, the outcome might very well prove to be critical.
On the last day of the season, Burnley will host Forest, thus Kompany thinks it’s critical that a decision be made in advance.
To be honest, let’s hope that common sense wins out and that people realize when to make a decision as well,” the Clarets leader stated.
It makes sense. It’s just plain sense, as Forest vs Burnley is the final game of the season. It’s not necessary for me to tell you that.
“The only issue is that I haven’t bothered about it or considered it a concern throughout the season, so I won’t be starting now. For me, the mentality is the same. It has no bearing on our plans for the upcoming game.
Although a decision was expected earlier this week, the City Ground team is still anxiously awaiting word on whether they would receive any additional points.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Forest, expressed his annoyance with the delays prior to their match this coming weekend against Sheffield United.
Sadly, we haven’t heard anything as of yet. Though not yet, we are expecting,” he remarked.
It is really challenging. This is a situation that we have been handling for some time.
“We all knew exactly how many points we had, and we all expected the decision to come sooner. Are we up to 30, 29, 28, 27? We must have it as soon as possible. The club, not us, is dealing with these issues.
“Achieving thirty points would be outstanding, as this is what the players have accomplished on the field.” I completely agree; they’ve had enough time, and it’s a mess.
“It’s a shambles, really challenging for all of the league, especially the clubs that are deducting points. Not just for us. This is really hard to deal with.
