The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Tennessee Tech 48-3 in the second week of the season to improve to 2-0 overall. But before that, Georgia defeated the Tigers 34-3 at Mercedes Benz Stadium in the season opener against Clemson.
Georgia outscored Clemson 28-3 in the second half after holding them scoreless in the first and allowing less than 200 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs, who are currently rated first, won handily, but the Tigers believe that their lack of execution cost them the game rather than Georgia outperforming them on the pitch.
The Tigers defeated App State 66-20 to avenge their humiliation at the hands of Georgia. With almost 700 yards of total offense and five touchdown passes from quarterback Cade Klubnik, Clemson scored 56 points in the first quarter. Walker Parks, an offensive lineman, expressed his belief that Clemson could have defeated Georgia with that kind of offensive success after the game.
Parks stated on Tuesday, “The thing is, like, I’ve never had a doubt in this team.” “I have a great deal of respect for them, so I know this is going to sound crazy, and I mean no disrespect at all. They gave us a whooping. However, it seems like we also could have done that to Georgia. I’m not advocating to hang 66-20 and do that either. However, the plays that we created were there, as were the opportunities.
After the Georgia game, head coach Dabo Swinney said he thought his team did not execute, and Klubnik echoed him by saying offensive coordinator Garrett Riley had a solid game plan against the Bulldogs. But in the end, the Bulldogs undoubtedly made a statement against Clemson, and the outcome of the contest suggested that Georgia had the better football team, which is what prevailed over the course of four quarters.
