Relebohile Mofokeng, a teenage superstar, once again dazzled the globe with his talent on Wednesday night as he featured prominently in the Orlando Pirates’ 1-1 MTN8 draw against Cape Town City.
Following an incredible season of growth and earning his first cap for his country, the young player posed a continuous danger on the left flank and occasionally caused issues for the City defense.
Coach Jose Riveiro of the Orlando Pirates last season was always talking about Mofokeng, and his belief paid off when the young player scored the game-winning goal in the last seconds of the Nedbank Cup.
Furthermore, Riveiro may have believed he was handling the next great thing in South African football considering the way Pirates have begun the season. In addition to his superb play up front, Mofokeng tracked back and provided defensive support.
“Like everyone else, especially our forwards who are our offensive players, we try to play to their strengths and create situations and spaces for each other.”
“As I mentioned earlier, the collective, the procedure, and the chance to play really competitive games in the club are providing Rele… with the chance to grow up and fill up the gaps where he might not be the best because you can’t be the best at everything. However, you can strive to approach it,” the Spaniard remarked.
Therefore, you strive to present your whole self on the field—both positive and negative—because you don’t want to be perceived as lacking anything. We therefore make an effort to support each and every member of the team, and Rele is no different.
We can all see how much he has improved over the past year in each phase.
“He’s getting better at winning duals as well, which speaks volumes about his dedication.”
